Monitoring Water Resources
Under authority of the Clean Water Act (CWA) Section 106, the Tribe has been granted monies by US EPA to monitor its water resources, and to identify, reduce, and eliminate pollution of those resources. This page contains information on the Wiyot Tribe's CWA§106 program and water quality data.
Non Point Source Water Pollution Control Program
In addition to the water quality monitoring program funded by CWA§106, the department manages a CWA§319 Non Point Source Water Pollution Control program for "on-the-ground" pollution control activities. Most of these activities have been preventative in nature, consisting of the implementation of Best Management Practices (BMPs). Example projects have been wetland fencing, range management, erosion control, and stormwater management.
