In Soulatluk, the numbers 1-4 are verbs. That means that the word goutsurr, which we translate in English as "one", really means "there is one"; rri'durr = "there are two", etc.
The numbers shown on this page (with the verb ending -urr) are used for counting people and many animals, and for abstract counting (counting numbers, but not any specific physical object).
To count other types of objects in the world (long skinny objects, flat objects, roundish objects, built objects, etc.), units of time (number of times/repetitions, days, years, etc.) and other concepts, Wiyot uses several different sets of endings (called classifiers).
